The Battle with ANXIETY

I have been an anxious person for as long as I can remember. I remember sitting up at night afraid of what my parents would look like when they're old. Or that heaven is just a white room where you sing and never stop. Or any thunderstorm would turn into a tornado and blow my house down on me.


Lately I have been dealing with anxiety again and I have decided to battle it again. And I wanted to share with you some of the things that have helped me a lot.


  1. Spending time studying the Bible. and not just verses on anxiety. Anything but. Trying to stuff my mind so full of TRUTH I don't have room for worry.

  2. TURNING OFF THE NEWS. It is all too much for us to carry. We are supposed to lay it at Jesus' feet anyway. Why are we shoving our minds full of things we can't carry? Am I uninformed? maybe a little. Do I care? nope. Because my anxiety is at a record low

  3. Reading GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD by Jennie Allen. This book has helped me in SO many ways. She gives you an honest reality check and practical tools to get there.

  4. Studying with friends. I am doing a couple of YouVersion App Bible studies with people and I love having people to talk to about what I am learning. It drives it in farther. I am studying Get out of your head with two different groups of people and it is so helpful to discuss it with friends.

  5. Reading Books and Podcasts that are uplifting and life-giving. Not conspiracy theories. Not news. Not True Crime podcasts. We are not supposed to be Woke. we are to be wise. and sometimes being wise means focusing on JESUS only.

Doing those 5 things has helped me so much. So much that my resting heart rate on my FitBit has gone from 65 to 59. because I am not constantly on edge.



If you struggle with anxiety - you don't have to struggle alone or forever. There is freedom. Steps 1-5 above helped me and they can help you, too.
