Three Things I wish I had known about labor..

Updated: Aug 18, 2020

Here are some things I wish I had known about labor before going into labor. But now I know them and I want you to know them.

1) you CAN do this.

I gave up when the pressure increased. I thought I had days and hours to go. I thought my birth team was bored. I wish I would have taken a nap.

2) You can say NO or wait.

"I am going to break your water"

"We need to check you again"

These sentences are NOT consent. you can say "no thank you". Here is an acronym I tell everyone I know about when they're pregnant:

3) A healthy baby is the goal. But ALSO a satisfying birth. A birth where you feel HEARD, valued and that you had a choice! And you can have both a healthy baby and a good experience.
